After application for enrollment has been made, an interview with the child is conducted. This interview process is to determine readiness for group learning and average age appropriate development. Because of limited resources with personnel and finances, Evangel Christian School targets enrollment of the average child. Children who do not appear to be ready for group learning or who show signs of possible special needs are not accepted. Should this be the case, registration fees are refunded.*
*Grades 1-5. An entrance exam may be required after the initial interview process to determine a student’s readiness for the programs of our school.
Basic classroom supplies are to be provided by parents as requested by the teacher.
An original birth CERTIFICATE must be presented at the time of registration. A photo static copy is then made for our files and parents retain the original. These certificates are used to authenticate information for permanent cumulative records.
A Certificate of Immunization MUST be on file PRIOR to the first day of school attendance. ABSOLUTELY NO EXCEPTIONS ARE MADE. We are fulfilling state law requirement.
All 3-year-old children must be completely toilet trained. We reserve the right to ask parents to withdraw any child that does not prove to be so.
Grades K-4 and K-5
Students must be age 4 to enter K-4 and age 5 to enter K-5 on or before September 30th. WE PREFER STUDENTS ADHERE TO THE LOCAL PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM’S BIRTH DATE DEADLINE, WHICH IS DETERMINED BY THE FIRST SCHOOL DAY OF EACH CALENDAR YEAR. IN THIS WAY, STUDENTS WHO MAY LATER GO ON TO PUBLIC SCHOOL WILL HAVE NO DIFFICULTY WITH AGE ACCEPTANCE. Although a student is allowed to attend ECS based on our birth date deadline, his/her acceptance into public or other private schools is based on THEIR age requirements.

At Evangel Christian School, we strive to provide quality Christian Education and ensure the safety of each child entrusted to us. In doing so, we maintain “Church Exempt” status in regards to state licensing with the State of Alabama Department of Human Resources.
With this exemption, all children under the age of 5 must receive a routine physical examination with the Physician stating that the child is able to participate in school group activities. The Physician must also state that the child is free of contagious disease and has received proper immunization. A “Child’s Medical Report” form may be obtained from the school office for this purpose.
Detailed information concerning “Church Exemption” is presented at the time of registration. A signed notarized affidavit is used in this process. Notarization may be completed in the school office free of charge.

Students are given the choice of either bringing lunch from home or purchasing a plate lunch from the school cafeteria. The cost of a plate lunch, including milk or juice, is $3.00. Juice or milk can also be purchased separately for $.50.
Ice cream is available for afternoon snack time. The cost is $0.50.
Additional information concerning these and other food service information, including snack and lunch menus, may be obtained from the office or classroom teacher.
All students are required to wear uniforms. Uniforms consist of navy blue pants, shorts, or skirts with a red or white shirt/blouse. Shoes must be black or navy blue but may contain accents of red, white, or other shades of blue. Socks of white, navy blue, or red must be worn. While styles may vary, all clothing must be of uniform quality. No denim or corduroy is allowed. Any clothing item with belt loops must have a belt of navy blue or black to match shoe color.
Check or Money Order is the preferred method of payment. Office personnel should directly receipt any cash payments. Evangel Christian will not be responsible for any cash payments sent by any other means.
Children will not be allowed to attend school/daycare if payment is beyond 5 school days late. Children may return to school/daycare once the delinquent week has been paid. Any child not attending school/daycare for a two-week period pending payment of a delinquent account is subject to having his/her position filled, and thus, re-admittance would be jeopardized if no available positions were open at the given time.
Tuition and daycare fees are due on the fifteenth of each month. There is a $20.00 late fee for payments received after the twenty-fifth of the month. If payments are delinquent more than 30 days, students will not be allowed to attend school until the account has been brought up to date. (This period must not exceed 5 school days.)

A 1982 graduate of Southeastern University, Lee Tillman was first employed by Fountain of Life Church as a teacher for its school, Evangel Christian, in 1985. He accepted the position as Principal in 1989 and continues to serve in that capacity. The father of one daughter, Brittany (and a first time grandpa), he met and married Gail Rasbornink while attending Southeastern University. Along with the daily administration of Evangel Christian School, he is actively involved in various ministries of Fountain of Life Church as a member of the ministry team. With a love for music you will often see him participating as a member of the Praise and Worship Team and Choir.
